Arturo en el Barco will be performing in Redhooker’s CD Release Party this Sunday January 31st at (Le) Poisson Rouge. This show it’s going to be really nice and I can’t wait to play again with everyone!

When I started Arturo en el Barco five years ago, I originally thought of the project as a live chamber ensemble even though it took the form of a solo endeavor. But now it’s finally happening! We are finally an ensemble. I’m very happy to announce the debut of the new AEEB as part of the great Archipelago Series from New Amsterdam Records. We’ll be playing on Friday Nov. 20th at the lovely Galapagos Arts Space premiering a set of six new songs under the title “Let the Sun Shine on Me and Make Me Feel Special”. Matt Marks (french horn), Andie Springer (violin), Insia Malik (violin), Evelyn Farny (cello), Beth Meyers (viola, banjo) and José Olivares (electronics) will join me in this new adventure!
Missy Mazzoli’s awesome Victoire will also be playing that night previewing some new material from their upcoming NewAm album!

I’ve been so busy with other stuff that I completely forgot to announce this! We’ll do a special set tomorrow night at the Gowanus Creative Sessions in Brooklyn. It promises to be a very cozy and intimate night.

I’m happy to announce my latest release “Alejandro” which contains 8 new pieces from and inspired by the theater piece of the same name. The CD is a limited handmade edition in collaboration with the theater company Y No Había Luz (original artwork by Julio Morales) and features original compositions for electronics, shruti box, accordion, music box, voices, toys and found sounds. At the moment the album is only being sold at live shows but if you’re interested in a copy please feel free to e-mail me for more information. You can download the track “Jonás” from this album here.
Also, Arturo en el Barco will be playing on February 16th at Le Poisson Rouge with my friend Phyllis Chen. Please check the live section for more information.

Welcome to the new Arturo en el Barco website.
It’s been a long time and a lot has happened. Arturo en el Barco has become a miniature chamber ensemble with three members for my live shows. I’m playing accordion, piano, violin, music boxes and singing while José is collaborating on laptop and synths and Javier is playing banjo, bass recorder, musical saw and homemade electric mbira.
Also, I have a lot of new songs that at the moment we’re just playing in our live shows but I will soon be recording them for my next album.
Here are some of my latest appearances in compilations:
